ONEIDA JUMP TRAP SETTER—I have heard that the Oneida Community are making a setting clamp for their Oneida Jump traps—-is this true? I often wondered why they didn’t make something of that kind, for the only fault of the “jump” trap is the difficulty of bending the springs, especially when there is snow, and no solid place to rest the trap on.
It is not a clamp, strictly speaking, but s sort of lever contrivance. The clip end is slipped over the bottom of the trap and the wire loop hooked over the end of spring, then the lever is thrown down, bending the spring. The lever locks in position when thrown down. The wire loop is so made that it will answer for both large and small traps, but for s double spring trap two setters are needed, therefore we offer a pair of them as a premium. The setters are light and may be carried easily in a coat pocket.
