Not all dogs are made to hunt.

I had 15 pheasants left to shoot at my bird club and I had a private field. My parents came with me and since I had a private field my mother brought her 1 and a half year old Jack Russell named Daisy May. Now you can imagine a little dog like that trying to run through thigh high grass while on a leash. We saw one pheasant before my lab saw it so we decided to let Daisy scare it up. We turned her loose and it took her a second to find it but she did. She walked up behind it and the bird turned towards her but I guess that pheasant had other things on his mind because he lit into that little dog. It was like the bird said "I'm going to get me some before I get shot" Neither my dad nor myself could shoot the bird, all we could do was laugh and turn the big black lab loose on the pheasant. The little dog wasn't hurt but the only birds she might hunt in the future are chucker or quail.
