NORTHERN MICHIGAN AND WISCONSIN—Will you please tell me where in the Northern Peninsula of Michigan good hunting and trapping are found, and what kind of game is found there?
Good hunting, especially for deer, and fairly good trapping, may be had in all the countries of the eastern portion. Perhaps Luse, School-craft and Delta Counties will be best. Good hunting is also to be had in the counties bordering on Wisconsin. The game is deer, ruffed grouse, and rabbits, principally, and the furbearing animals are black bear, wolf, otter, lynx, wildcat, mink, fisher, weasel, foxes, and on rare occasions a marten. Beavers are plenty, but protected by law. Mink are the principal fur producers of Northern Michigan.
