Muskellunge (Mascalonge, Muskellunge, Maskinonge, etc.): Caught with small-fish and large-frog bait, on the stoutest bait-casting rod, and the same reel, line, leader, etc., used in ocean surf-fishing for Striped Bass and Red Drum. Found in the Great Lakes, and St. Lawrence River, and especially in Canada. Attains a length of from four to six feet. Is a member of the Pike family. Resembles the Pike and the Pickerel (same family) in form. Weighs up to eighty pounds.
