Musk Animal-Where Found-I would like to have some information regarding the musk of the mink, muskrat and beaver. Where is it found?
The musk of the mink is found in two small glands, lying one on each side of the vent. That of the muskrat is contained in two cream colored sacks called castors which are found just under the skin on the belly, well back towards the vent. The castors of the beaver are also found on the belly. Attached to them are two smaller glands containing a thick fluid having a peculiar odor. This is also much used for scent.
