Muskrats-Damming Lake-In reply to “Dick, the Trapper,” will say that he will have to raise the outlet of the lake by making an embankment to make the water three feet deep, then put in a tile drain a half foot from the top, as the water would have to be two and a half feet deep to keep it from freezing to the bottom. In stocking your lake you should get the large, dark muskrats that build houses in the water, as the bank rats will dig through the dam. I have had no experience in the business but have learned this by trapping a pond on the neighbor’s place.
