Muskrats-Trapped in Houses-Can muskrats be trapped in their houses when the ponds are frozen up; if so, how?
Muskrats are easily trapped in their houses after the ice has formed; in fact it is the only way to trap them at this time. Cut a hole in the side of the house and set the trap on the raised part of the floor, fastened to a stick on the outside of the house. Close the opening as tightly as possible and if there is snow, pack a lot of it over the break. The traps should be looked at evening and morning.
