MUSKRAT — DEEP WATER METHOD—Take a board four inches wide, staple your trap to it and bore a small hole through the board near the end; drive a fourteen-inch stick into this hole and place parsnip or sweet apple on the end of it; tie a small stone to the trap and set it on the board, spring towards the bait, stick the board in the bank at a slope of 41 degrees or less, the trap below the bait and just under water.
