Mixed Breeds-I have a dog that is half collie and half shepherd and am thinking of breeding her to a greyhound. Would such a cross make good hunters and what would they be good for? I would like to know something about the breeding season of dogs.
I do not believe that the results of such a cross would be good hunters if used singly, but might make good one's for coyote and wolf hunting if used in a pack with a good trailer. It is my opinion that they would not be good trailers, but as I have never seen a cross such as this I may be mistaken. They would undoubtedly have plenty of speed. Dogs have no regular breeding season and will breed when the female is in heat, which in adult animals usually occurs once in six months.
