This is a peculiarity of the fur, which makes it very soft and downy and thin. At least, the only one I ever caught was thin and downy. It brought 30 cents when the normal price was $2.00. They are occasionally caught where other mink roam, being merely a sort of freak, I think. They are found in greatest numbers perhaps along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and tributaries.
