Mink-Grading-What are the required sizes of mink to grade large, medium and small? Does it enhance the value of a mink skin to split the tail?

We could not answer this as the mink varies so much in size in various parts of the country, and the differed dealers may also have different standards. For instance, when a dealer quotes very high prices, compared with those quoted by another dealer, I would expect him to grade nearly all mink as medium and small, while at the same time I would expect the low quoter to be very liberal in grading as regards size and color. A system of measurements for stretching patterns is given in Steel Traps and in Fur Farming that may be accepted as standard.
