MINNESOTA GOVERNMENT LANDS—I would like to have some information regarding Marshall Co., Minn., as to the Government land there, kind and quality of crops raised and hunting and trapping. Will some reader from that part please answer?
There is still some government land to be had in Marshall Co. Minn., in the eastern part. The land is mostly swamps that will have to be drained before they can be used as farms. The grain crop consists of wheat, oats, barley, flax and corn. It is as good grain and stock country as is to be had anywhere in the United States. For game we have prairie chickens, ducks (all kinds) geese, cranes, snipes, squirrels, and sometimes deer and bears. For fur- bearing animals we have mink, muskrats, weasels, skunks, badgers and foxes, which are reasonably plenty, and we also have a few coyotes, timber wolves and wildcats. Good fishing can also be had in the lakes and streams.
