Tubular magazines generally consist of a hollow metal tube, spring and follower that is attached under the barrel of a rifle or shotgun. Rounds are inserted into the tube end to end. Due to this arrangement only flat nose bullets should be used in tubular magazines, as the sharp nose of a spitzer bullet could detonate the primer of the round in front of it.
