Maine Trapping Conditions | |

Maine Trapping Conditions-I would like to know something about the trapping conditions in Maine. Is one allowed to use a rifle in that state? What is the not-resident fee for a hunting and trapping license? What provisions would a party of two require for 7 months stay? State what furbearing and game animals are found there and the cost of lumber for a shanty. What is the nearest town to the mountains or to good trapping grounds.
The non-resident licenses are as follows: For hunting before October 1st, $5.00, after October 1st, $15.00; trapping license, $5.00. Yes, you dare carry a rifle. For amount of provisions required read Camp& Trail Methods. The furbearing animals are fox (red), mink, otter, beaver, skunk, marten, fisher, bear, lynx and weasel. Foxes and skunks are the only animals that are very plentiful and they are found mostly in the settled country. I cannot give any information regarding the best places.
