Making Inexpensive Scent Canisters
Many hunters use scents to either attract game animals or to cover human odor. Scents are not inexpensive and the last thing you want to do is waste them by dumping them on the ground, wasting them or possibly spooking game that can't figure out how it got there.
Instead of dumping the scent or spraying it on the ground or trees, try making a few of these inexpensive scent canisters before next season.
Simply visit your local film development store and ask for a few empty film canisters. Place some cotton balls in the canister and cover the saturate the cotton with your scents. The canisters offer an easy way to carry scents in the field and generally are spill, water and air proof.
Mark the covers of your canisters with the first letters of the scents inside, so you know what you have and simply place them on the ground open in your hunting area. For added versatility, you can hot or super glue a clothespin to the side of the canister with the clipping end toward the bottom. This way you can clip the canister to a branch around your stand.
Bow hunters will find an added benefit to using these inexpensive scent canisters; place canisters at known distances from your stand and use them as an easy reference for distance.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting
