LOCATING BEES—What is a good method of locating bees?

My favorite way of hunting bees is to get a small pan of honey and drop in a little oil of anise and mix it well, then I go out into a field and find a bee, let him load up and fly away, and I take his course; he will fly straight to the tree. When I find the tree I cut a hole into the hollow or bore one in, and fill the tree with smoke which prevents them from flying away. Then I cut off the limb, with my hive close by and let them settle, then brush them into the hive and close it.
