Large Game of Arizona – What are the large game animals of Arizona? Are there any elk, sheep and goats there? I read several sporting magazines but seldom see anything regarding hunting in Arizona. It seems to me that a state so sparsely settled, especially in the mountainous parts of the eastern and southern portions, ought to have lots of game.
I cannot tell you very much regarding the game animals of Arizona. Deer, it appears, are plentiful. There are also elk, antelope and mountain sheep, but they are all protected. This leaves only deer, bears and mountain lions, of big game, which maybe hunted. I understand that both black, and grizzly bears are found in this state. Although mountain goats are mentioned among the protected game, I do not think there are any of these animals found there.
