|
Most turkey hunters hunt alone, there are some situations however in which a second hunter can make the difference between filling your tag and going home empty. 2 hunters are better than one when you have a gobbler that refuses to come fully into the setup and the call. When this happens one hunter should stay put while the other slowly walks away from the gobbler calling every 20-30 yards. To the tom this will sound like the love of his life is slowly feeding away from him, he will close the distance every time he hears that the “hen” is moving away.
Another situation in which 2 hunters is preferable to one is when introducing a young hunter or new turkey hunter to the sport. In this situation the more experienced turkey hunter can do the calling, this allows the young or inexperienced hunter to concentrate on making the shot. It also allows both hunters to move as little as possible, a major concern when hunting the wild turkey.
