HUDSON RIVER CANOE TRIP—I wish to make a canoe trip up the Hudson River to the Adirondack Mountains and would like to know if there is any good hunting or trapping up this way and what there is to trap?
I don’t imagine you can combine canoeing with trapping in the Adirondacks, except on some lake or still water for a few weeks in the late fall. It would be a good trip in a canoe up the Hudson, but above Troy you would find hard traveling up the rapids. There is fair hunting in many parts of the Adirondacks, in season, but with 125 game protectors and scores of forest rangers wandering around, you would need a hunting license (non-resident) and lots of endurance. Trapping must be learned on the ground.
