They Call It Hunting NOT Killing | |
|
Unfortunately, I don't have any actual success stories to share. I am a relatively new hunter, only a couple years now. And I wouldn't be what you'd call an avid hunter. In fact, I think I am bad luck when it comes to hunting. It seems like no matter whom I go hunting with (since I have no established hunting lands of my own), none of us have really even been able to draw our bows on a deer, let alone let one fly. In that regard, my hunting experiences have been a little depressing. However, the freezing cold and disappointment have not diminished my determination. I still go; despite my wife's urging to stay home, to try. And I think the best way to sum it up is by something my friend said last time we went out- "That's why it's called HUNTING, not KILLING." And that really struck home. It's the thrill of the hunt that still has me hooked. And I hope other newcomers to hunting can appreciate it as much as I do. And on top of all that, I really love sitting there watching and listening to the entire forest wake up. It's a real treat! Stick to it!
