Home-Made Powder-I read a letter written by Mr. Ellis. He said that Mr. Baldwin is right about homemade powder, that the other fellow was wrong. I will ask them a few questions. They said use half black powder to commence and it was not strong enough to drive shot very far. To make it shoot as hard as with the black I had to use fully as much as I used to use of black and then it used to shoot pretty well, but it was very hard on the shells. It used to swell the cartridge heads so badly that I had trouble to extract them after they were fired; not much recoil, that is true enough, but not much drive ahead, that is also true. I would recommend staying with the commercially available powders.
