Are the hollow point lead bullets as good killers of game as shooters claim them to be?
You will find that a hollow point in any lead bullet will increase its killing power considerably, in fact the makers of the Ideal Reloading Tools claim fifty per cent, more efficiency for this type of missile. They are certainly gaining in favor among users of the medium an>small power rifles for the leading cartridges makers are now supplying hollow point bullets for many of these sizes. Included in the list are the .22 Short, Long, Long Rifle, Auto, and Special, .25 Stevens, all rim-fire, .32. .38 and 41 W. C. F. and .45-70-330. This latter is one 0? most popular black powder killers of big game in use today. Personally I would rather drop my deer with a load of this nature (for the hollow point spreads just enough to make a clean kill) than with some of the high power, high velocity shells that turn a deers quarter into mince-meat when hit. Possibly the most extensively used hollow point cartridge is the Long Rifle shell. This type of bullet makes this load fully equal to the more powerful .22 Special in killing power when the latter is used with regular solid projectile.
