I'm a bow hunter. I live in Ontario. Our archery season for moose is in mid-September. More times than enough when I’m sitting in my tree stand I’m always bothered by pesky sand flies and yes. Even mosquitos. When the temperature is warm. The pests are out, so I always take a small piece of raw meat and let it ferment for 3 or 4 days and i put it in a nylon sock and i hang it about 2 feet away from me while in the stand. Let me tell you, the flies much prefer the smelly meat instead of me, so when it comes time to take that critical shot. I don't have the flies buzzing near my face...it works for me.
