Guns-Method for Cleaning

Guns-Method for Cleaning-Can you give me a good method of cleaning guns so that they will not rust afterwards?

Clean with a wood rod and tight fitting cotton rag, saturated in Marble’s Nitro Solvent oil. When the rags will come through perfectly clean, set the gun away; next day clean it again, and finish by greasing the inside of the barrel thoroughly with some heavy gun grease; the kind put up in collapsible tubes. The gun should be warmed before cleaning, if it is cold, to bring the frost out.
