GINSENG—TELLING AGE—How can you tell the age of a wild ginseng plant?
Every fall when the stalk dies down it leaves a scar on the neck of the root, and to tell the age, count tip the scars. That will give the age in years of the plant. I have found them 25 years old, frequently, but the old roots are not necessarily the largest.
