GEESE AND DUCKS AT 300YDS.—Is the Marlin Model 27, .23-20 caliber, a good rifle for geese, ducks, cranes and turkeys, up to 300 yards? Would the standard sights be good or would it he best to get other sights, and what kind should they be?
It is a good rifle for that game, but 300 yards is too long a distance for this rifle to he expected to do good work, even with the black powder and low pressure smokeless loads, which are the most accurate. The standard ivory head front sight is all right, hut I don’t think much of the rear sight. It is as good as the average open rear sight, but the peep sight is far ahead of all open sights. Either Lyman’s or Marble’s make is all right.
