The odor of decayed flesh combined with skunk perfume is very attractive to the fox, in fact I do not know of any other scent, or combination of odors that is near so attractive. Take a half pound of skunk fat and a lump of the flesh as large as an egg; chop it all fine, and allow it to thoroughly decay in a covered pickle or milk bottle. When thoroughly decomposed add a little honey (it helps to prevent evaporation of the scent when in use) and the scent of two skunks. This will attract fox as far and with as much certainty as any scent known. Only a small quantity is needed at a set. Renew it once a week, and after rains. It is not good after the snow comes.
