Flapjacks-How Made-Will you please tell me what a flapjack is and how it is made?
You mean woods camp flapjack or pancake? They are made with one cup of flour, half a teaspoonful of salt, a rounded spoonful of baking powder and water to a rather thin batter. Put a chunk of grease in a frying pan, and when it melts over the fire, pour out some batter and fry over the fire. Flop over and fry the other side. Some use a little condensed milk in them, some meat grease-venison fat, say-and some leave out the baking powder. By making this batter quite thick, it becomes dough gods, or biscuit, or pot-pie crust, or dumplings to drop into a game stew or soup.
