Florida Hunting and Trapping-How is hunting and trapping in Florida and which part of the state is best?
There is some good hunting and trapping in Florida, and while I am not prepared to say which part is best, I think that for trapping, the northern man will do best in the drier parts, that is, outside of the big swamps. While there are more furbearing animals in the swamps, especially coons and otters, conditions there are such that a northern man who is not acquainted with that kind of country, could not do much. Judging from the map alone, I should say that one would be most likely to find good hunting and trapping in the counties of Lafayette, Levy and Manatee. The furbearing animals are coon, opossum, otter, wildcat, bear, skunk, and I believe, civet cats and mink. The game is deer, turkey, quail, ducks, and many kinds of other birds.
