Fish for Pond-What kind of fish would be best for a fish pond, about 50x100 feet, supplied with spring water, and where could I get the fish?
It would depend much on the nature of the ground on which the pond is located. Presuming that your location is the ordinary Iowa farmland, I believe that bass would thrive all right, but there are other kinds of fish that would be better, if you want them for food. In clear, clean water, carp do well and are far superior to those caught in the rivers and creeks. On the whole, it seems to me that a variety taken from your nearby streams would be best. I do not know of any place where you could get the young fish.
