Fisher Hunting-Whish would be the best dog for hunting fishers-a coon dog or an Airedale?
I am not sure what you mean by a coon dog, for there is no such breed of dogs, but most of the dogs used for coon hunting are foxhounds, so I will take it that you mean foxhounds, so I will take it that you mean foxhound vs. Airedale. I have never heard of hunting fishers with dogs. The fisher travels far when the snow is not deep, and for a long chase I think the foxhound would be best. In winter when the snow is loose and deep a fisher will only run a few miles in a night, but dogs cannot be used in the deep loose snow. If it were not for this I should think that the Airedale would be the better dog of the two.
