FIREARMS FOR USE IN THE MOUNTAINS—What is your opinion of the .401 Winchester rifle, for use in the mountains? Will it stand hard usage on the trap line, in all kinds of weather?

The .401 is a good rifle under most conditions, but I am not certain how it would perform under the weather conditions prevailing in the high mountain districts, when carried on the trap line. Even a bolt action rifle will freeze up sometimes under such conditions. It will stand rough handling, however, as well as any other, for it has e strong and simple mechanism.
