A FAITHFUL DOG
I will tell, you of my experience on a hunting trip down South. I have got three lines, northeast, northwest and south. The southern line is about 20 miles around. It was on Sunday I caught one 'coon, one mink and several rats. I peeled them and I wasn't used to taking my gun every day. I laid it down in the leaves and when I got about a mile away I saw that I left my gun and I also missed my dog Buster and I did not know what to do. So I thought to myself, I would leave the gun go and get it the next morning and I came on home and asked my wife if the dog had come home. She said: "No; he went with you." I didn't sleep very good that night because I was listening for Buster to come home.
I got up the next morning and started out on my line at 5 o'clock and when I got out where I had left my gun the day before, there was Buster. The dog lay with frost all over him. I went on a little further and I caught one mink, two 'coons and several rats in my traps. Buster was awful glad to see me and I was sure glad I had found him.
I have trapped the northeast line for 42 years. I haven't trapped the south line and northwest for several years.
