DUCKS AND WATER FOWL—Which would be the best gun for shooting ducks and water fowl at long range? A .12 gauge, double barrel or pump or the .10 gauge Winchester lever action?
The 10 gauge was made, I think, especially for ducks and geese at long range. Market hunters down the Mississippi use this lever gun, but most of them prefer the 12 gauge pump or else the automatic, which has come into service more and more in recent years. Personally, I should prefer the 10 gauge if I did not have to carry it around too much, as in blind shooting.
