Sore Feet-Can you tell me a remedy for sore feet of dogs?
Bathe the feet in cold water, then soak them 10 minutes night and morning in solution of one part Jeyes’ Fluid to forty parts water, or in a solution of boracic acid. If desired you can use the following preparation, which is very good: Tincture of arnica, ˝ oz.; tincture of matico, ˝ oz.; tincture of opium, 1 oz.; acetic acid, ˝ oz.; water, enough to fill a wine bottle.
Either of these will be good and efficient for ordinary sore feed, but when the case is a very bad one-feet swollen and painful, and containing matter, apply a poultice of bran and half-boiled turnips, equal parts; to which has been added a little linseed meal, and pour a little olive oil over the surface of the poultice before applying. The dog should be kept on a light diet (in severe cases) and a gentle purgative administered.
