DENT IN BARREL—Will a dent in a gun barrel, 15 inches from the muzzle have any bad effect on its shooting qualities? Can the dent be removed?
It doesn’t seem to me that a small dent in a shotgun barrel, 15 inches from the muzzle, would make any difference in the shooting. Yes, it can be removed very easily by a gunsmith, and it is advisable to have it pressed out from the inside, otherwise it will wear down to a level in time, and leave a weak spot in the barrel.
