The skins of animals are thicker in summer than in winter. Therefore the leather is thicker, weighs more and is better, notably in caribou, deer, etc. Indians always killed summer deer for buckskin, etc. When fur is thick, the skin is thin, when the fur is thin, the skin is thick.
