Cylinder stops are found on revolvers and are a small protrusion that indexes into the cylinder stop notches milled into a revolver cylinder, which in turn aligns the chambers in the cylinder with the barrel. As the revolver is cocked or the trigger is pulled, the spring loaded cylinder stop moves in and out of the individual cylinder stop notches, locking and unlocking the cylinder.
