Coyote Hunting-What is the difference between a foxhound and a coyote hound, and which is best for coyotes, a foxhound or a greyhound?
There is no breed of dogs known as the coyote hound. Foxhounds are not good for hunting coyotes. They are too slow and follow the trail by scent. They are used successfully for hunting brush wolves in the partly timbered regions of Minnesota and Wisconsin, in the same way that foxes are hunted in the East, but on the plains foxhounds are worthless for wolf or coyote hunting. Greyhounds, staghounds and wolfhounds, fast dogs that follow the game by sight and run it down and kill it are the kind for coyotes. A single dog is not good-you want two, three or more.
