Conversion / Sporterizing | |
|
The conversion or sporterizing of military firearms to sporting use was once extremely popular, but has fallen from favor. The moving away from conversions / sporterizing is due largely to economic factors, once extremely inexpensive, military arms are now becoming collectors items, while at the same time, sporting arms are becoming relatively inexpensive.
Generally when converting / sporterizing a military arm to sporting use the stock is modified, sights are either removed and a scope mounted or improved iron sights are mounted, bolts are often turned down among other changes.
