Cost of 20 Gauge Shells
“Why .20 gauge shells cost more than .12 gauge,” also if the manufacturer or retailer is to blame?
“Probably both” Having retailed ammunition for several years I would like the privilege of answering: The .20 gauge cost me 38 cents per box and freight, about 1/2 cent. I sell them at 45 cents, which is nearly at cost, when you consider the cost of doing business, which in my case is about 15 per cent, and I Iive about as economically as a man can, pay no rent, hire no help, nor drive fast horses, neither drink nor gamble, but am in the store practically every day in the year. I don’t see how it is possible for the retailer to sell them at any less price. I would like to hear the wholesaler’s side of the question.
The .12 gauge cost practically the same and I sell them at same price.
