Commercial Musk-I see, once in a while, in the H-T-T some formulas for making different kinds of scents; one of the ingredients used they call “commercial musk”. Now, I would like to know what the so-called commercial musk is. I have tried several druggists and they say that all they know of is Japanese musk and the true, or musk of the musk ox.

In price lists, on finds “true musk”.10 cents a grain, Artificial, 60 cents an ounce, artificial musk is, I think, one of the countless extracts of coal tar. Probably the Japanese musk mentioned is the artificial musk.
