Color-Hound Pups-I have some hound pups. The mother is a dandy rabbit and skunk dog, brown and white with black tips. The father is a good coon and skunk dog, black body and face and brown with black tips and the others are black, like the father. I wish to save one of the dog pups of my own use. Which color would you advise me to keep? The father was bought for half fox and half bloodhound.

You can tell but little about a dog’s hunting abilities from his color in this kind of a litter. The only way to study the pups and pick the one that shows the best nose (quickest to notice scents), the best eyes, the brightest in doing things, in understanding orders, and in other ways shows its intelligence and abilities.
