Coon-In Enclosures-How many female coon can one keep with one male and how many female mink for one male mink?
It is best, I believe, to have these animals paired. The females should and probably must be kept separate during mating. However, I have observed that in the wild state a buck mink will sometimes, at least, visit two or more squaws in the course of a week or two during the season, the females having their own runs. In enclosures and by watching closely perhaps one male would be sufficient for from six to ten females. Males should be separated from the females as soon as the females begin to flee or hide. Male mink eat kitten mink, if they get the chance.
