Chronographs are electronic devices designed to measure the velocity of a projectile. Chronographs while once extremely expensive have now dropped in price to a point where they are easily afforded by shooting enthusiasts. Chronographs use a set of two or more sky screens which sense the shadow produced by a bullet or other projectile as it passes over the screens. Some of the higher end chronographs take the velocity information attained and generate external ballistics charts for the round being measured.
