CHILLED SHOT—Will chilled shot mar the polish of a new shot gun barrel? I have a New Model Marlin Repeater, Model 24, grade B. I got some Winchester shells loaded with chilled shot, and I shot three shells. When I cleaned it I could see little fine dots in rows in the polish. Was it the shot or was it the fault- of the barrel?

I think the dots are due to lead stain, rather than to dents in the polish. You might ask the Marlin Company shoot it, however.
