Chambered for .22-Which will shoot most accurately of the .22 caliber rifles when using the short cartridges, one chambered for the short cartridge only or one chambered for the short, long and long rifle cartridge?
A .22 caliber rifle chambered for the short cartridge will probably do slightly better shooting than one chambered for the long rifle cartridge, but for practical use one could not detect the difference. The proper twist for the .22 short appears to be about one turn in twenty inches, while for the long rifle cartridge a twist of one turn in sixteen inches seems to be best.
