Cedar Canoe-To Cover with Canvas-I have a cedar canoe, weight 16 pounds, that I wish to cover with canvas. It is built of cedar strips lapped. Would you tack the canvas at each lap or draw it smooth over all? What weight canvas would you use?

Draw the canvas over it, and tack along the gunwales and along the canvas seam on the bottom. Probably 12-ounce canvas would be heavy enough for so light a canoe. However, 16-ounce canvas would be that much heavier and less apt to tear off.
