 The Center-fire Cartridge
A center-fire cartridge is made in just about the same fashion as a rim-fire cartridge, except that the primer is set in the center of the head of the shell and it is there that the firing-pin of the rifle strikes.
Nearly all makes of American rifles now on the market except the .22-calibers shoot center-fire cartridges as these are more certain in their action.
