A case rupture is a dangerous event to both shooter and firearm. Generally ruptured cases are rare in factory ammunition when fired in a firearm correctly chambered for the round, but to occur in hand loaded ammunition, when the reloaded reloads the cases one to many times or pushes the pressure limits of the cartridge. A ruptured case occurs whenever a split occurs in the brass case.
